R&D Mechanical design trainee, ABB Drives, 2017-2018

Working at ABB Drive Products R&D has been very educative and valuable experience for me. I have learned much about mechanical design and became familiar with product development processes. My tasks included  creating 2D drawings and 3D-models of sheet metal and injection molded plastic parts in PTC Creo Parametric, and maintaining model data in Windchill and SAP. In these tasks I could develop myself as a mechanical designer, but I also got a good experience in product development in general. 

I was able to combine learnings from ABB and Aalto, and this way deepen my knowledge efficiently. For example, I had acquired basic skills in CAD software at Aalto, but at ABB I actually understood that there is a lot more in modeling than just extruding features. Organized product data management proved to be essential and the design is needed be verified by other designers as well, while interfacing with sourcing managers, testing, sub-contractors and co-workers. 

Also, this has been a good experience for master's degree as well since I could have utilized these design and communication skills also in school projects, such as Machine Design Project and Product Development Project.

Production line trainee, ABB Drives, 2016-2017

My first position on the field of my studies was production trainee at ABB Drives Common Production Line. My tasks mostly included assembly and packing of medium size drives. This gave me a practical experience in industrial production. This experience was very good insight for product development as well since there are several aspects to keep in mind for good manufacturability. I learned that it really has a major effect on efficiency if the product is practical for assembly. 

Farm worker, 2009-2015

I have started my career as farm worker. I worked at my family farm at summers and occasionally on weekends and evenings after school. Here I have learned many basic working skills and got good practical and versatile work experience. Most importantly, I've got a high working moral  and attitude. I understood that tasks are done by doing them, and the easiest way of doing them is to do them the properly at once.
